Opened in 2000, The Toronto Flag Shop remains a part of the Toronto community, serving as a place to "I'm retired and if I'm going to work anywhere, The Flag Shop is the place to work because of the customers and the energy you get from them," says Toronto Flag Shop owner, Irwin Woodrow, "Customers are key. Helping someone get a flag for their cottage, when they come to pick it up and love it, you get gratification for a job well done." In 2000, Irwin and Corrine Woodrow moved from Vancouver to Toronto to be with their family after years working in the restaurant industry. Having been on the board of directors for International Flag and Banner, they decided to open a Flag Shop franchise in Toronto to offer a variety of national and ethnic flags along with its full line of Canadian products from the past and present. One of their first customers spied his home countryʼs flag in the new store and became so excited that he started dancing in the store. The Flag Shop Toronto has expanded its offerings beyond just stock flags by providing custom printed promotional items with no job too large or too small. The Flag Shop Toronto is honoured to supply the Canadian flags for funeral homes that handle soldier funerals. In addition, the Flag Shop Toronto also has ongoing service contracts for maintaining flag installations, most notably with one of the leading telecommunication providers in Canada.
